About Sue
Born in Wauchope in New South Wales, Australia, Sue grew up by the sea in Port Macquarie. Sue has always had an affinity with the coast and this is reflected in her seascapes. Sue is a country girl at heart and loves wide open spaces and the opportunity to explore new places.
Photography started as a hobby for Sue and quickly became an obsession as she realised the awesome power of a photograph to tell a story and capture a moment in time.
Motivated by adventurers and pioneers such as Galen Rowell and Ansel Adams, Sue loves to get off the beaten track and believes that it is only when you have left the city lights far behind, do you develop a deep appreciation of the magic, beauty and mystery of the natural world. Vivian Maier, Guy Tal, David duChemin, Alexandre Deschaumes and Jay Maisel are other artists whose work Sue admires.
In 2014, Sue became an accrediated professional photographer and member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP).
In 2013, Sue was awarded the highest award (Fellow) by the Australian Photographic Society under the exhibition system - (FAPS)
In 2011, Sue was awarded the following photographic honours:
International Federation of Photography - Artiste FIAP (AFIAP)
Photographic Society of America - Distinction of Proficiency (PPSA)
